Operative Armour is a range of proprietary safety-engineered devices that allow surgeons and clinicians to close incisions without the assistance of a scrub tech. The equipment can reduce operation times by an estimated 20 to 25 percent while minimizing the chances of a needlestick. A primary component of Operative Armour is the Barrier Kit.
What is a Barrier-Mounted Kit??
A Barrier Kit includes a Barrier, which mounts on the surgeon’s non-dominant forearm. It’s puncture-resistant, comfortable and extremely lightweight.
The barrier kit also includes a Needle Trap already attached to a mount for suture packs. A peel-and-stick pad on the suture mount allows the attachment of a vendor’s suture pack. This suture pack and Needle Trap assembly will attach to or detach from the interior side of the Barrier.
The OAB-1 Large Kit
Along with the barrier, this kit includes:
- Four large traps that accommodate needle sizes 28 mm to 48 mm
- Two small traps that accommodate needle sizes 12 mm to 26 mm
- A Tool Scabbard, which mounts on the barrier and holds needle drivers, suture scissors or other tools
The OAB-1S Small Kit
Along with the barrier, this kit includes:
- Six small traps, which accommodate needle sizes 12 mm to 26 mm
- A Tool Scabbard, which mounts on the barrier and holds needle drivers, suture scissors and other tools
A More Effective Management System
The Operative Armour management systems for suture needles minimize the hazard of needlestick injuries, reduce potential retention of foreign objects and equip clinicians with closure autonomy. The surgeon’s ability to self-dispense as well as self-secure suture needles results in a more efficient and safer workflow. Contact Sharp Fluidics at (866) 951-5777 or via the website.
